I’ve been hearing good things about Wolverhampton based two piece God Damn for years now. After seeing them live at the tail end of January, I fully believe the hype. Sign me up to the cause!
The band are currently recording and performing as a two piece, following third member Dave’s involvement in an unfortunate traffic accident last year. Yet they still sound huge and work great together as a two piece. As frontman Thom puts it “I want this band to be able to work as a two piece or a three piece or a ten piece band, you know, as long as the songs are there then I think that’s the important thing”
God Damn are currently nearing the end of their first headline tour of the UK. I caught up with Thom and Ash ahead of their Manchester date, on what would turn out to be the night of the two pieces, at Gullivers in Manchester. Gullivers – a venue which has been described to me as “like that room from Twin Peaks” since the refurb. Couldn’t agree more – eerie…
Since we spoke, God Damn have officially confirmed that they will be signing to One Little Indian Records! From the God Damn Facebook “This is a boyhood dream for both of us and we can’t express our excitement at being given this opportunity. Let the good times roll and the real hard work begin!”
God Damn absolutely killed it at Gullivers, pretty much packing the room out on a freezing cold January night.
Fellow two pieces Pedro Don Key and Bad Grammar provided the support. I’d not heard the former before, and they were absolutely brilliant. To get a little taste of Pedro Don Key, check out their bandcamp.
If you’re familiar with Birthday Cake for Breakfast, you know Bad Grammar are firm favourites In this camp! With a new release on the way, Bad Grammar have recently released new single ‘Temper Temper‘ to much acclaim. Check it out here, and keep your eyes peeled for their new release!
