Snot pop pioneers FLESH take us further down the rabbit hole in their terrifying new video for ‘W8 4 ME‘
If you’re not familiar with Flesh, you need to get your head in the game.
A throwback to the Madchester era, huge sing along choruses compliment their grungey, 90’s indie sound and they match this up with their outfits of classic tracksuits and chains robbed from Argos. The drummer drives a Seat Ibiza. At live shows, LADZ outstretch their arms and shout along (myself included) and it’s all a whole load of fun. But Flesh aren’t a joke band. The tunes are all there, and they’re great live. Previous singles ‘AVIN IT IN IBIZA‘ and ‘Vauxhall Casanova‘ are proper indie-pop smashes, the latter of which being probably the most infectious song they’ve released so far (until they release that ‘Champion’ tune…)
They’ve recently been added to the lineup for Manchester’s Dot To Dot Festival this May, and will be supporting Peace this month for three nights running at The Deaf Institute. As well as that, they’re off to Europe for a run of dates in June.
New video ‘W8 4 ME’ is a real dark affair, and sees them in a horrible, dingy as fuck location. Lots more mugging for the camera from the lads, interspersed with terrifying B-movie footage involving gross masks and a few scuffles. If you’re familiar with Flesh, it’s what you probably imagine they get up to in their spare time…
As always though, it’s an incredibly solid tune. Pure scuzz from the start, dripping with sleaze, with another belting guitar solo.
I’ve banged on and on about Flesh for a while, and it’s great to see them go from strength to strength. The upcoming dates with Peace at The Deaf Institute will hopefully propel Flesh to new heights, and I couldn’t be happier. Let’s make the snot-poppers a household name!
