Don’t you just love going to a show and being blown away by the support?
Last night at the Deaf Institute, Manchester’s shouty-shouty, noisy-noisy duo The Hyena Kill were in attendance for the release of their debut album ‘Atomised’. Kicking off the show was Thing – Four long haired lads from just up the road in Stockport, laying down some outstanding jams. Engaging, groovy psych, occasionally verging into wig-out territory – It was everything I could’ve asked for and more. Well into it.
Whilst you were sat at home unwrapping your presents and stuffing your face on Christmas Day of 2015, Thing uploaded their debut single ‘Carousel’ on the 25th. Recorded with Martin King and Henry Broadhead at Eve Studios in Manchester a few months prior to its release, it ended up being the gift that keeps on giving!
If you’re up North, you can catch Thing at this year’s Dot To Dot Festival in Manchester. They’re tucked in there with a host of rad bands on the RIFFSRIFFSRIFFS stage at Marble Brewery. They’ve also got something new coming out relatively soon, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.
For now, enjoy the incredible Carousel, in all its trippy, mind-melting goodness:
