Exclusive: Stream ‘Live At SSR’ – The new album from Manchester’s Easter

I was at a house party the other night (bragging, I know) and someone asked me what was good coming out of Manchester. Having been cooped up at home in South Manchester for what feels like the past fifty years throughout the pandemic, I didn’t have the foggiest. That’ll soon change now that live shows are becoming a reality, but in the meantime it’s good to have outfits like Easter to fall back on.

In just over a decade, the Manc outfit have released two albums, a pair of EPs and a handful of smaller releases, whilst still remaining a bit of a best kept secret. Even still, one that’s notched up plaudits over the years from the likes of Huw Stephens and Tom Ravenscroft, as well as publications such as Uncut and Record Collector.

Just before lockdown, right off the back of a tour with Bromide and Dark Globes, Easter got together at the School Of Sound Recording in Manchester to record a behind-closed-doors live album, capturing a new line-up in action and a fully charged tour energy that they’re taking into their new material.

From the sweet tone of opener ‘Something American‘ to the up-against-it urgency of closer ‘Doubt Rings‘, the new release was recorded by Hardik Keshan and pre-orders are still live ahead of its release this week on Cruel Nature Records – available on limited edition cassette (only 50 copies world-wide, mind you)!

Before all that though, treat yourself to an exclusive stream of the full thing!
